Entry Requirements
Every person entering Barbados, including all North American citizens (Americans and Canadians), must
be in possession of a valid passport and a valid return ticket.  Citizens of some countries also require
visas.

Atlantic Standard Time (one hour earlier than Eastern Standard Time)
Because of its position relative to the equator, the sun rises at approximately 5:30 a.m. and sets at
approximately 6:00 p.m. year round.

Climate
Barbados boasts approximately 3000 hours of sunshine per year, and the steady breezes keep the
humidity low. The rainy season on Barbados is between July and November. The average temperature
is between 70 to 88 degrees year round.

Currency
The Barbados dollar ($Bds.) is the official currency. The exchange rate is about $2.00 Bds. to U.S.$1.00.
US and Canadian dollars are widely accepted. There are many commercial banks in Barbados (mostly
British and Canadian) and most have ABMs that will accept credit cards. They all dispense funds in
Barbados dollars at the current rate of exchange.

Credit Cards and Travelers Cheques
Most Barbados hotels, restaurants and businesses will accept credit cards. Travelers cheques in U.S.,
U.K. and Canadian funds are also cashable at many outlets.

The water around the island is filtered through the coral rock, with very little chemical treatment, so it is
safe to drink.

Barbados Drivers License & Permit
You can obtain a Barbados drivers license on producing a valid National or International License. The
cost for a visitors permit is US$5 for a 2-month permit and US$50 for a 1-year permit. All authorised car
rental companies can issue you a drivers license if you have a valid license.

Barbados Attire
While Barbados is a fun holiday island, there are dress codes. Business men wear a shirt and tie and
sometimes a jacket. Women wear smart dresses. Short shorts and halter tops are reserved for resort
wear. Bathing suits are for the beach, beach bars and the pool.

Dutyfree Shopping
Prices are typically  30 to 50% less than in Europe and North America! When making dutyfree purchases
be sure to have your passport or airline ticket with you. Your packages can be delivered to the airport
or sea port for your convenience.
